Day of Play Family Festival

Day of Play Family Festival
Day of Play Family Festival returns to Worcester's Elm Park to celebrate their 6th year! The event is designed for children 3 to 10 years old and their families. The event is FREE and open to the public. At this year's Day of Play Family Festival, we will offer 40+ interactive play activities in six specialized play areas where parents interact with their children. Take a look at our website http://www.worcesterdayofplay.org for more detailed information about this fantastic and fun day.

Here are some of the highlights of the day:

Worcester Music Academy's Teen Bands take the stage to kick off the fun at 11:00 on our Main Stage. This year we will have two bands performing until 12:30!

Get "up front & personal" with the creepy, the crawly and the cute!
Come meet Leo Spinner from Skins and Scales where you can interact with snakes, frogs, lizards, spiders, and even tortoises big enough to ride! Learn about these creatures from around the world and have a chance to get hands-on!

Let your imagination soar.
Design a banner or giant hat in the Creative Arts area, build towers in Construction Junction, run an obstacle course and much more!

Get in on the act!
Are you a princess, construction worker, astronaut, rock star? Come to the dramatic play area where you can dress up and then perform on our stage.

No Evil Project
Have you had your picture taken for the No Evil Project? This is a community photo project where people like you (and not like you) pick three labels that describe themselves, take photos posing as the three wise monkeys, "see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil," and write a good thing they've done to show they're not evil. (Simple, right?) The goal? To show the world that anyone can do good, no matter who they are. This traveling photo exhibition is shown all over and you can take part!

Come Meet Dora the Explorer at 1:30PM on the Main Stage!
We will distribute 500 I Spy a Dinosaur's Eye by Jean Marzollo books. Join Dora for a special read-along as we "explore" together and follow the clues to find the pictures. Dora will graciously stick around for pictures with her friends!

Meet "Libby" the mobile library.
Meet Libby Worcester's own mobile library and pick up a library card and maybe a few books.

Meet the Regional Environmental Council,
see their mobile food van, learn about community gardens and plant your own seeds to take home.

We all love a parade!
We are excited to announce that the famous South High Marching Band will be joining us at 1:00PM for a march around the park!!!

Learn how to hula hoop with Hoop-Dee-Doo!
Come to the Physical Play area all day! Hula hoops will be distributed for you to take home (while supplies last)!

Learn how to Juggle! Meet Janoah Bailin as he walks, juggles and unicycles around the park. He will amaze you with his tricks and hilarious antics. Be careful he may just ask you to join in the fun! Then join him at the main stage at 2:30 for an interactive and exciting show!

The Tooth Fairy is serious about dental health! She will be reading stories with her puppet Ollie and she is also available for photo op's after each performance, on the hour, at the Literature stage.

Jake and players from the Bravehearts will be "playing" in the Physical Play area from 12:30-1:00!

This year we have an Imagination Playground!!!
in our Stem Play area all day. Using oversize oddly shaped pieces build a castle, tunnel, spaceship or anything you can think up!

Join ArtReach in the Creative Arts Play Area all day!
and learn the art of GYOTAKU (the art of Japanese fish printing!) Take home your masterpiece!

At 3:30 the spectacle and awe of the Asian Coalition Lion Dancers will close out the Festival on the Main Stage. If you haven't seen them it is worth the wait!
